Because Pauline Bewick's purple dancer was inspired by Siobhan McKenna, who she saw in the Old Abby Theater, i have uploaded these images to help me capture the movements of the dancers.

Update on my animation.

Playing around with the dancer and figuring out the movements and the way she looks.

Creating the set and figure has proved a lot more difficult than i first thought. Any progress and then i run into a minor problem, but i think iam finally ready to shoot!

Chosen images to work from by Pauline Bewick.

PURPLE DANCER 1 and PURPLE DANCER 2
1950s * Pastel * 7" by 5" and 8" by 6"
Travelling collection.
Sorry for the poor quality, i had to take pictures of them from my notebook, because I couldn't find them on the internet.

PEAR TREES AND SHADOWS
2006 * Pastel * 26" by 20"
Waterford collection.

For my animation , my idea is to make the dancers, dance, in and around this image. I choose these images because i really like both of them and  the colors complement each other very well. (which you can't see to clearly here). But i also believe that these images capture Bewick's style and love for the female form and nature. Many of her works entwine or merge women in landscapes , so for two of her works that are not, i will be uniting them. Also bewick's use of color, fluidity and movement are also captured in these works.

I am still teasing out the idea, figuring out wither or not to use both dancers. The movements they should take and which medium to use, either drawing, clay models or to manipulate photocopies.
